7 States in Mexico

Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it. Isa 34:1

Dear Brethren,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath purchased a remnant with His blood, from every tongue and kindred and nation.

This is a report on God's sovereign grace and mercy and providence during the ongoing outreach to bring the reformed gospel throughout the 32 States and 141 cities of Mexico. During the days of 4/30 to 5/17 we visited 7 States in Mexico with the precious gospel of salvation.. The states visited were: Morelos, Mexico, Puebla, Queretaro, Veracruz, Tlaxcala and Guanajuato.

4/30; I arrived in Mexico City at 9;00PM. After clearing customs and immigration, I met my companion who is a Mexican resident. Armed with a freshly printed batch of tracts that my companion bought along, with 10 minutes to spare, we caught the last bus to Queretaro (pop 500,000). We gave praise to our blessed God and Saviour for travelling mercies and the timely printing of the tracts. Both of us considered the scripture out of 1Tim 1:12, " And I (we) thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me (us), for that He counted me (us) faithful, putting me (us) into the ministry;

The Lord graciously provided a cheap hotel strategically centered in the busy Plaza Principal district. We were well rested overnite from all the travelling rigors and were anxious to bring good tidings to these dear people .

5/1 The day began early. By 8:00AM parades and marching bands were in the streets. It is Labor Day in Mexico. Many streets were closed off as tens of thousands of laborers and factory and union workers from the region crossed our paths. They graciously received God's Word from us. We let them know of Christ's labours and His finished work at the cross. ...It is finished....Jn 19:30

We also realized that: "We are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. 1Cor 3:9 The Team appreciates your labours and prayers at the throne of grace holding up this effort. To God be the glory as many blessings follow the prayers of the saints.

There were festivities taking place all afternoon and evening throughout the city as Aztec dancers were in various plazas celebrating and beating their drums. We also visited Plaza de la Independencia and Plaza de la Corregidora and the large shady Alemeda which is a popular area. Please pray that many be touched by the transforming power of God's word and the convincing power of the Holy Spirit and be birthed into faith and repentance; That an understanding of Christ's labours would put a song in their hearts.

5/2 We approached many thousands during morning rush hour in the Plaza Principal district and along the main Avenida Corregidora in this busy downtown area. Many people visit the nearby Templo de San Francisco (a large cathedral). Some comments we received were: " What! You have no Pope?"; " Salvation is within us"; I don't need that, I belong to a Catholic prayer group." Please pray that the strongholds of the erroneous 'works gospel' of Roman Catholicism be exposed. Please pray that the Lord open their eyes to TRUTH; That they realize that: Neither is there Salvation in any other...Acts 4:12; ...and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;...Isa 64:6

We refilled our backpacks and went out to a high traffic 'aqueduct' area in the city for the evening witnessing effort. A boy about 10 years old named Juan Carlos appeared to be interested in the tract and carefully tucked it away in his pocket despite his grandmother's request not to take it. Please pray that it please the Lord to save him and raise him up as a faithful witness unto Him.

5/3 We took an early bus and passed through the towns of Celaya and Irapuato bringing the gospel to these small bus stations on our way to Leon (pop 900,000) in the state of Guanajuato. Upon our arrival we targeted the bus terminal and nearby pedestrian malls. Reception was better than expected for a predominantly Roman Catholic city. One man said, " You don't believe in Mary? She is our Holy Mother!" Please pray that it please the Lord to open his eyes to the only mediator between God and man, Christ Jesus. 1Ti 2:5

5/4 We went to Guanajuato City (pop 70,000). This is a gorgeous city crammed into the steep slopes of a ravine, with narrow streets that twist around the hillsides and dive underground into a series of tunnels. Guanajuato is one of the richest silver and gold mining towns in the world and also has 21,000 students attending the University of Guanajuato. This gives this city, established in 1559, an interesting youthfulness. Though these dear people appear to be concerned for one another's well being, "None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him. For the redemption of their soul is precious." Ps 49:7-8 We saturated this town throughout the narrow back alleys, the main street Juarez from the Mercado Hidalgo to the basilica in Plaza de la Paz; then Obragon from the basilica to the Jardin de la Union, the city's main Plaza. Please pray that it please the Lord to opens the eyes of these dear people to His Salvation plan. " I will make a man more precious than fine gold;... Isa 13:12; That the Lord do a work in their hearts.

We returned to Leon and walked the streets passing out tracts to whoever would receive them. My companion noticed a man sitting on a street corner reading the New Testament. We were all blessed with the fellowship and he appreciated the additional reformed literature and the website connections for discipleship. Please pray that he grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Pet 3:18

5/5 At the bus station in Leon a cleaning lady professed to be a bible student and was blessed by the reformed literature that she received. Please keep her in prayer as well. A Jehovah's Witness approached me and actually had seen people with the tracts all over town and found a tract on a bus in a neighboring town. He appeared interested in the scriptures. I pointed out the many differences in their gospel and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Could it be that the Lord be pleased to convict him of Truth? He spoke perfect English and boasted that the JW's have 19 congregations in the regional area. We know false gospels grow like weeds! Please pray that it please the Lord to incline the hearts of those in the Reformed Church to sow seed in these regions; That the Lord of the Harvest bring forth labourers. Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2

We departed to Mexico City....then to Cuernavaca.

5/6 We passed out tracts throughout downtown Cuernavaca. Reception was mixed. The Lord had blessed us with continually beautiful weather, so all tracts that were discarded were picked up and re passed to others. We continued on to the printing company and picked up another large batch of badly needed tracts, as we had just run out. What perfect timing our Lord has shown as He directs our steps! We ordered even more tracts, including 5000 English tracts to be distributed in the MD/DC area of the USA. The printing costs in Mexico are about 8 times cheaper than the USA. The contact information on the English tract is: The Presbyterian Reformed Church, Bethesda, MD. 703/359-0192 www.westminsterconfession.org Check it out! You will be blessed!!!

5/7 We went to a small town called Irutepec and spent the afternoon walking the streets bringing the gospel. We also continued throughout other areas of downtown Cuernavaca. Reception and retention of the tracts was very good. The people are gracious and exhibit an awe and reverence for God and His Word. Please pray that it please the Lord to bear much fruit.

5/8 We visited a market in Cuernavaca and were well received. There were allot of beggars. One person approached us and professed to be a Christian. He asked for a handful of tracts to pass out in his neighborhood.

We noticed a man with no legs making his way down a sidewalk in a sitting position using his arms. We approached him and gave him the good news that God's elect will one day experience no more pain or sorrow or suffering. He glowed with a knowing smile. It was encouraging. We were touched to the heart. I will never forget it. It was one of the significant memories that is engrained in my spirit and I will always treasure it. Please pray that the Lord guide him and direct him as he sojourns to a heavenly city. Heb 11:10

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes;and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Re 21:4

5/9 We continued to concentrate on the city of Cuernavaca and visited a large Artesan Market and various downtown intersections. Cuernavaca has a population of 311,000.

5/10 We took an bus to the city of Puebla in the state of Puebla. We distributed tracts throughout the bus terminal and entrance while awaiting a transfer to Jalapa in the state of Veracruz. We had a 2 hour layover. There were thousands of people passing through to other parts of the country. Today is Mother's Day in Mexico, and it is highly celebrated and a heavily travelled day. We let them know of a promise that Jehovah God has made to His people: "As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem." Isa 66:13

We finally made our way to Jalapa {pop 324,000). After getting situated in a hotel, we walked the streets passing out tracts and orienting ourselves with the city for an intensified effort. A Christian couple requested tracts for their church. Please pray that it please our Lord that a radical reformation of their theology become a reality for that congregation, as they seek TRUTH.

5/11 Many people crossed our path as we visited the main Plaza Parque Juarez in the middle of the city. This area is only 2 kilometers from the main bus station. Just east of the plaza is Jalapa's cathedral. This is a heavily travelled area as many come to see the beautiful architecture of this splendid cathedral.

We made our way to the bus terminal and went to Xico (pop 14,200) This is a pretty colonial village known for it's coffee, orchids, and the 40 meter Texolo waterfall. We went along Avenida Allende bringing the gospel to these dear people as we made our way to the magnificent waterfalls. Reception was excellent everywhere we went! This is most likely the first time these dear people have received the true gospel. Please pray that it take root in their hearts; that fruit be born.

He shall cause them that come out of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit. Isa 27:6

We returned to Jalapa and refilled our backpacks. We then confronted the busy nightlife crowds. Thousands of people graciously took the tracts. Very few were discarded. A group from Campus Crusade for Christ were out and about. They had seen the tracts all over the city. They were interested in the tract and our other reformed literature. Let us pray that it please the Lord that they understand that it is only the sovereign grace and mercy of God that can regenerate a soul. "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost." Tit 3:5

So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. Ro 9:16

5/12 We took a bus to Perote and distributed tracts at the bus terminal before transferring to the city of Tlaxcala (pop 63,300) located in the state of Tlaxcala. It is the smallest state of Mexico and is about 30 kilometers north of Puebla. The bus terminal was rather quiet, but a 38 year old man named Carlos took a tract and professed to be a 'new' Christian. He said the Lord had broken him in Tijuana while he was involved in drugs and alcohol. He was very happy to receive the additional literature and the information on the reformed websites. Please pray that the Lord incline him to "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2Tim 2:15

We went to the Zocalo and a nearby park and brought the gospel to these dear people. Two central plazas meet at the corner of Independencia and Munoz. Plaza de la Constitucion and Plaza Xicohtencatl. This was a strategic point that the Lord had led us to. A large cross section of the population visit this area. Reception was very good. We then headed back to the bus terminal and went to Puebla for the evening.

Thousands of people were returning from weekend Mother's Day festivities and received the tracts graciously as they passed by us on a thoroughfare exiting the bus terminal.

5/13 We went back to Cuernavaca and continued distributing at various strategic markets and intersections in the downtown area. My companion is a medical doctor involved in academics in the Medical Research Institute in Cuernavaca for a second Master's degree. This is why our base camp is nearby. The Lord has worked out every detail. Please pray that the Lord use her mightily with this vast knowledge in the medical field. That He direct her steps to His glory.

5/14 We went to a park, hospital, clinic, artesan market, and waterfall in Cuernavaca and continued bringing the good news. Reception was very good and many inquired about the discipleship on the tract. Please continue to keep these dear people in prayer.

5/15 We went to Mexico City to the Coyoacan District; a Plaza and castle in Chapultepec; the Zona Rosa District; an artesan market and La Ciudadela. Reception was good everywhere we went.

5/16 We went to Tepoztlan (pop 14,000) and passed out the last remaining tracts we had. Tepoztlan means (Place of Copper) and sits in a valley surrounded by high, jagged cliffs. We had visited this town last March, and were led to more thoroughly bring the gospel of salvation to these dear people.

Many children were walking the streets on their way home from school. Reception was very good. Please pray that the Lord raise them up to His glory. That they hear His calling. 1Sam 3:9

5/17 I had an early departure from Cuernavaca to Mexico City to catch an 11:00AM flight to the USA. All went well. The Lord granted beautiful weather throughout the entire effort.....only 1 day of a light rain. He protected us and granted travelling mercies.

On behalf of the Team, Thanks for your prayers! Our only regret is that we could have passed out many more tracts, if we had the finances to print them. Please consider contributing to these ongoing efforts for the furtherance of the gospel. Ph 4:17
