And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee. Zec 2:11
MEXICO MISSION REPORT 2/22 to 3/8
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath purchased with His blood a remnant from every tongue and kindred and nation.
By God's wonderful grace, a mission effort took place in 5 Mexican states during the weeks of 2/22 to 3/8-2002.We brought the precious gospel of salvation to the dear people of Mexico, Morelos, Puebla, Michoacan and Guerrero States.
We used the Spanish version of the "Does God Love You?" tract, with ALL Family Radio discipleship elliminated, and three Reformed churches were used as follow up:
1. Iglesia Nueva Obra en Cristo Jesus http://nuevaobra.org
2. The Reformed Bible Church of Southern California http://reformedbiblechurchsc.com
3. Iglesia Bautista Beth-El email firstname.lastname@example.org
The mailing addresses of All 3 Churches were also added to the tract.
2/22 We arrived too late to Mexico City to catch the last bus to Cuernavaca (our base camp) in the state of Morelos. After beseeching the Lord in prayer, we were led to stay overnight in the airport, as the hotels in that part of Mexico City are very expensive.
To God be the glory as many others were in the same predicament, and many opportunities to witness unto our blessed God and Saviour availed us.
We rejoiced in our sovereign King and praised Him as He lead us with His Spirit.
Thus saith the LORD thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. Isa 48:17
Please pray that it please the Lord that many of His elect were among them.
2/23 After distributing tracts throughout the airport and adjacent bus terminal, we took the 6:30AM bus to Cuernavaca. The Lord blessed us with excellent prearranged accommodations that cost the equivalent of $60 US dollars per person for the 2 week stay. The hotel at the airport would have cost over $70 each for one night. Our blessed Lord always provides for His people.
Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men. Ps 31:19
Our land lady was 81 years old. Her name is Paulita. She has a mother who is 113 years old and her father died at 108 years old. There was a sign (in Spanish) at the front of this rooming house saying, "WE ACCEPT NO PROTESTANT PROPAGANDA; WE ARE CATHOLIC!!!"
To God be the Glory, as 2 days before we departed, she was asking for tracts for herself and family members!!! So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Rom 10:17
Please keep this dear lady and her family in prayer; that our Lord expose the spirit of error of the Roman Church with the Spirit of Truth.
Howbeit when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all Truth:...Jn 16:13
We picked up an awaiting batch of gospel tracts from a prearranged printer. They were well done!!! We took a step of faith and ordered many thousands more before venturing out to saturate the downtown area of Cuernavaca. We also visited the Jose Parrey Hospital. We exalted our Great Physician among them. We told them of their soul sickness and a gracious, merciful God that heals.
Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for He hath torn, and He will heal us; He hath smitten, and He will bind us up. Hos 6:1
Reception was excellent everywhere we went. We rejoiced in answered prayer as the Lord had prepared the hearts of these dear people. Could it be that many of His elect were among them? We know that the Lord uses His faithful witnesses, His ambassadors, to draw His elect.
I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love:...Hos 11:4
2/24 We took a bus to the city of Cualtla (pop 128,800) and were well received. This city spreads north to south roughly parallel to the Rio Cualtla. We brought the precious gospel along the main avenue, Aveneda Insurgentes; the Plaza Fuerte de Galeana (the Alemeda) and the Zocalo. Many thousands of people received the gospel throughout the arcades, plazas, and nearby the Palacio Municipal as well as the bus terminal area. My companion passed a tract to a taxi driver awaiting a fare at the taxi stand. He was reading a porno magazine at the time that the tract was presented to him....Does God Love You? Are you ready to meet God? He accepted the tract, though embarrassed.Job 11:14 came to mind: "If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles."
Please keep these dear people in prayer.
2/25 We continued to evangelize the downtown area of Cuernavaca which has a population of 311,000. Reception was well. Many people were inquiring about where a faithful church was to be found. We sadly could not recommend any. A lady pulled out her bible and asked us if the version was faithful. She had the Reina Valera 1960, which is a faithful version. We told her to stay away from the modern Bible versions, especially the NIV or any equivalent thereof. Please pray that a radical reformation would take place in these 141 cities of Mexico; that faithful churches would spring up. Though reformed churches are in other parts of the world, the dear people of Central and South America have been neglected;
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?...Rom 10:14-15
2/26 We took a bus to the city of Toluca, about 2 hours away. (pop 368,000) We distributed the precious gospel to the immense crowds at the bus terminal with mixed reactions. One person stepped on and kicked the tract in anger and disgust and others were very appreciative. Mt 22:14 came to mind, "Many are called but few are chosen."
We continued on to the city of Morelia, the capital of Michoaca'n state (pop 512,000) We passed through 2 towns along the way, Atlacomulco and Maravario.
We distributed at the Plaza Central; Plaza Plaza de los Martires and Plaza de Armas. The imposing twin towered cathedral in the zocalo is a major landmark. We ventured along Avenida Madero along the busy downtown district.Even the school children and nuns in the cathedral courtyard received the tracts!!! What a wonderful reception as our blessed God and Saviour was exalted in the market place. Be still, and know that I am God:I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Ps 46:10
2/27 We confronted the people of Morelia with this precious gospel during the busy morning rush hour before venturing to the city of Patzcuaro, (pop 47,100) We went to a busy market during the late afternoon and emptied out of thousands of tracts. The people were very gracious and polite and open to the good news. Please pray that the word take root in their hearts; that many come to a saving faith by God's sovereign grace and mercy; Rom 9:16; Is 55;11 We went back to Morelia, and refilled our backpacks at the hotel and brought God's salvation plan to the evening crowds in this city. Please pray for these dear people stumbling in darkness; that the light of the gospel lead them to peace with God.
2/28 We visited the downtown rush hour in a small city called Zitacuaro; then to Angangero and bought the precious gospel to these dear people. We warned them of Judgement and Righteousness of an Holy God who also exercises Lovingkindness. Jer 9:24
He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgement: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He. Deut 32:4
We came upon a sanctuary on a mountain for the migrating Monarch Butterfly. Many American tourists were among the crowds witnessing the spectacular beauty of literally millions of butterflies covering the trees and fluttering in a valley below. We had English tracts with us and received no interest from them, but disdain and disgust. One tourist said, " I am not going to carry that thing around with me." Another that rejected the tract said "What a place to be passing these things out at!!!" They mocked us and the Almighty God we serve. Rom 1:20 came to mind, "For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His Eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse": also Isa 24:5; "The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant." Please pray that the Lord have mercy on these lost souls. All the vendors, tour guides and Latino tourist joyfully received the tract. A large group of children and their teachers graciously received this good news!!! We then distributed to the evening rush hour in Zitacuaro. Please keep these dear people in prayer. This is most likely the first time that they have received the TRUE GOSPEL!!!
3/1 We went to the city of Tepoztla'n (pop 14,000) We saturated this small city. The main attraction is the Pira'mida de Tepozteco high upon a cliff top. We passed a group of catholics outside of their church giving away water while playing secular American rock music from the 60's. We confronted them with the living water, but were rejected as one said " I cannot accept that propaganda during Lent!!!" Though we made them aware that this was "solamente la Biblia" (Bible only) they had no interest. Please pray that our Lord have mercy on these dear people and open their eyes to the soul damning heresy of the Roman Church.
3/2 We took an early bus to the city of Puebla (pop 1.2 million) Thousands upon thousands of people received the True gospel. The reception was mixed. Many rejoiced to see us and inquired about more information and where to assemble to worship. At least we could direct them to the 3 reformed ministries on the back of the tract, as there are NO faithful churches in Puebla. We had a few different invitations to dine and fellowship with others, but time and circumstances did not permit. Others were indifferent or hostile upon the presentation of the fact that Judgement Day is inevitable.
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement. Heb 9:27; Amos 4:12 came to mind as well, "...prepare to meet thy God..."
Please pray for these dear people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Heb 10:31
We also visited the late evening crowds at the Zocalo and an outdoor theatre.
3/3 We approached many 1000's of people at the Zocalo Square across from the Cathedral as well as patrons that were going to and fro to the hourly Roman masses at this cathedral. By God's wonderful grace, we were approached by the news media and filmed and interviewed. The scriptures regarding the multiplication of the loaves and fishes came to mind (Mt 15:32-38) as many thousands were made aware of this precious gospel of salvation. TO God be the glory as He opens many doors!!! Rev 3:7-8; He most abundantly supplies our needs. Ph 4:19
We continued on to the neighboring city of Cholula (pop 24,100). The largest pyramid ever built is located here, Pira'mide Tepanapa, and is topped by a spectacular church. Many 1000's of people were walking these roads, some on pilgrimages to the church atop the pyramid. The roads were lined with vendors. All graciously received the tracts as well as the local residents in the busiest intersection of the local downtown district. Many of the foreign students attending the University of Americas located here, took the tracts. The only opposition was a phony inspector that demanded a permit. He was told "This is a public place. Where is your ID?" He walked off in a huff and puff, unable to thwart the gospel from going out. Rom 8:31 came to mind..."If God be for us, who can be against us?" Please pray that many come to Truth through the transforming power of God's word and the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. We also visited the neighboring villages of Tonantzintla and Acatepec.
3/4 We went to Mexico City and visited Metro Patriotismo, Plaza Insurgentes and a market in the Santa Maria la Rivera District. Reception was excellent in all locations and we rejoiced in God's provision as we continued on to the printer in Cuernavaca to pick up a fresh batch of badly needed tracts.
3/5 We took an early morning bus to Acapulco, about a 4 1/2 hour trip. We were dead tired and weighed down with what seemed like 100's of pounds of tracts. The Joy of the LORD is our strength. Neh 8:10. We rested on the bus and were refreshed upon our arrival to this bustling city. We emptied in a small district called Puerto Marques. A lady we had met on the bus upon our return to the hotel located in the busy cross road intersection of downtown Acapulco, got the last tract we had, which was being used as a bookmark for my small Bible. She followed us back to the hotel and took about 50 tracts for her friends and some other reformed literature. She was hungry for Truth and so happy to fellowship with us and receive the pertinent follow up info. She was sadly aware that there are NO faithful churches anywhere in Mexico. Please pray that it please the Lord that a faithful church spring up; That many grow in the grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Pet 3:18
We refilled our backpacks and proceeded to the zocalo in Acapulco, where the bustling night life visits the shops, bars and restaurants and outdoor cafes. One French / Canadian businessman approached us and asked, "What is this all about? What are you doing?" He received the Gospel verbally from us, but rejected the tract. He said, " I am over there, (pointing to his thriving restaurant) I am very satisfied, I know 3 languages." He was told, What does it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his soul?" None of your money or 3 languages will help you at God's Judgement Throne!!! Rev 20:12; "Are You Ready To Meet God? He simply walked away blind to his need of a Saviour.
Because thou sayest I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor , and blind, and naked. Re 3:17 Please pray that the Lord have mercy on him and the others eating and drinking and making merry; Please pray that the Lord spare them "whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things. Phil 3:19
3/6 We went to the downtown area of Acapulco during morning rush hour and were well received by the thousands of working class people that the Lord had cross our path. We then ventured to a small village called Pie de la Cuesta. During the bus trip we witnessed to a person that had said, " There was a Pastor's Convention here last week and they were ALL fat! They did not want to witness to us because they were on vacation." He was happy to fellowship with us and be refreshed in the fundamental basics of the True Gospel. He knew we were furthering the gospel to the glory of God.
But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel. Phil 1:12 Let us all pray for these dear people and that we be faithful witnesses, Isa 43:10; redeeming the time. Col 4:5 We returned to downtown Acapulco and caught the evening rush hour crowds.
We then took the 8:00PM bus back to our base camp in Cuernavaca. We rejoiced in the Lord as many many thousands of people were introduced to the True Gospel!!! Please pray that it please the Lord to draw many of these dear people to Himself.
Draw me, we will run after thee, :... SOS 1:4
3/7 We awoke and caught the morning rush hour in a different busy downtown section of Cuernavaca. We then proceeded to the city of Ixtapan (pop 13,700). It is about a 2 1/2 hour trip. This town has thermal water pools and a large aquatic park. Many children come here to play and many adults for the healing effects of the nutrients and temperature of the water. we gave them the water of the gospel, which heals a sin sick soul. (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth forever.} Ps 49:8
We ventured back to Cuernavaca and brought this precious gospel to the nightlife. There were gangs hanging out on various corners of the city. I confronted one gang and said "Preparase para encontrarse con Dios!!! (Prepare to meet thy God!!!) They said "Que?" (What?) All graciously took the tract and appeared to be somewhat amazed at the boldness that the Lord gave us. God is not a respecter of persons. Neither should we be. My companion approached a gang and they exchanged literature. She was giving them the gospel invitation; They were giving her a flyer showing a picture of them performing in a transvestite nite club!!!
The Lord protected us from sickness and harm during the entire effort; He guided and directed our steps; To God be the glory as many blessing followed the prayers of the Brethren.
The team thanks you for all your prayer and support. Jas 5:16
To God be the glory both now and forever. AMEN!!!
