|Any who have
bought into this serious heresy, it is time for you to grow up in your
understanding of the Word of God, and cease acting as though you have a
more age-enlightened higher knowledge, special understanding, or deeper
spiritual meaning rejecting the plain truth of Scripture for the new,
the different and the strange. Calvin said it so well, when he wrote,
"Furthermore, those who, having forsaken Scripture, imagine
some way or other of reaching God, ought to be thought of as not so much
gripped by error as carried away with frenzy. For of late, certain giddy
men have arisen who, with great haughtiness exalting the teaching office
of the Spirit, despise all reading and laugh at the simplicity of those
who, as they express it, still follow the dead and killing letter...What
say these fanatics, swollen with pride, who...carelessly forsake and bid
farewell to God's Word, and no less confidently than boldly, seize upon
whatever they may have conceived while snoring? Certainly a far
different sobriety befits the children of God".
The Scriptures do not teach that Christians must depart all Churches. The Scriptures do not teach, even in these disastrous times of the Church, that anyone could know with absolute certainty that every Church is apostate. This is just arrogant presumption and cultic.
In the book of Ruth we read in verses 1-5, "Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons. And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there. And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons. And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years. And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband." Three men ! stricken down by God for leaving the Corporate body - the Old Testament Church in a time of famine, seeking bread elsewhere, attempting to evade the judgment of God. Perhaps your journey out of the church is into the realm of the Heathen. Perhaps you have departed from among us, because you are no longer of us. Perhaps you are not with us, because you are against us. Perhaps you have been given over to strong delusion that you might be believe a lie.
One of the most basic misunderstandings in this whole mess is the dichotomy that people are making between the work of the Corporate Church and that of the eternal church. In any Corporate Church, the faithful work of the Gospel and the proper exercise of discipline and worship are only maintained by the eternal church within that Corporate body. In other words, it has never, in the history of Christianity, been the unbelievers in the Corporate Church who accomplished God-glorifying Christian work. Historically, there has always been an ecclesiola in ecclesia (little church within a big church) concept. True believers in a Corporate Church are the true church. In departing from the Corporate Church, believers would only be contributing to a self-fulfilling prophesy that the Church is now Apostate. Besides, the Scripture clearly teaches that the wheat and the tares (elect and damned) will co-exist in the Corporate Church until the end when the Lord will separate them. Do those of you who have left for this heretical teaching presume to be wiser than God? This innovation is contrary to the Bible, and divisive to the Church of Jesus Christ. May God have mercy on you.
